A 48-year-old man has died as a result of his injuries after a firearms incident involving police near Burnie on Tuesday night.

Police were called to the property at Stitz Street, Cooee, at 7.30pm in response to a report about an armed man.
Seven police officers were involved in the initial police response.
Western District Commander Tim Dooley said initial investigations indicate the man ignored repeated warnings to disarm, and confronted one officer, who discharged his firearm.
The man received abdomen and leg wounds and was taken to North West Regional Hospital where he underwent surgery.
Commander Dooley said sadly the man died at 3.50am, and our thoughts are with his loved ones.
EARLIER: Police are investigating an incident at Cooee on Tuesday night where a man received gunshot wounds.
Commander Tim Dooley said police responded about 7.30pm to a call about an armed man.
“Initial investigations indicate the man confronted one of the officers, who discharged his weapon,” Cmdr Dooley said.
He said the man was wounded in the abdomen and leg and taken to hospital.
