Chynade Alice Lynch, 19, appeared in Horsham’s Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
She pleaded guilty to speeding and driving while suspended.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Belinda Ryan said Lynch was driving south along the Western Highway at Pimpinio on March 25, which was Good Friday.
She said police detected Lynch travelling at 158 kilometres an hour in an 100 kilometre an hour zone.
Police intercepted Lynch and discovered her licence was suspended for a previous drug-driving incident in December.
Lynch admitted to police that her licence was suspended.
Her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Lynch told the court that she wasn’t thinking.
Magistrate Mark Stratmann said Lynch was travelling at 44 metres a second.
He said she had three intoxicated passengers in the car.
“If they had distracted you, the slightest inadvertence would have resulted in you dying and all your passengers dying,” he said.
“This was a very bad decision.”
Mr Stratmann convicted Lynch on the charges and fined her $950.
Lynch’s driver’s licence was cancelled and she was disqualified from driving for 18 months.
Mr Stratmann also ordered Lynch to participate in a safe driving program.
