“Everyone’s pretty excited, we’ve all good mates and everyone has good skills,” he said.
“We know all the players have high skills so it’s a good opportunity to play together.”
Sandercock said the side was having no difficulty gelling together.
“We’ve got a pretty similar side with about three quarters of the team having played together before.”
Border Districts president Martin Flower said Sandercock would be a great asset to the side.
“He leads by example on the field with his head over the ball,” he said.
“He’s hard and tough and never gives up.”
Kaniva-Leeor United had five players nominated for interleague but due to injuries and unavailability, forward Billy King is the only player representing.
King will play with the under-17.5s.
King has been heavily involved with the Courgars club. He was captain of the 2015 under-17 side and winner of the league’s best and fairest.
Kaniva-Leeor United president Jason Gordon said King thoroughly deserved his interleague spot.
“He’s a terrific young bloke. I expect Billy will be happy to be playing this weekend,” he said.
“It’s a great reward for his consistent effort in playing seniors this year.”
Gordon said King would be a great asset in front of goal.
“I’d expect him to go through a midfield rotation on the weekend,” he said.
“He’s small in stature but quick and light in reflexes and he’s very good around the goalmouth.
“The round robin interleague style might not suit some players but it will definitely fit Billy and his playing style.”
The interleague carnival will be held at Naracoorte for the first time at the weekend.
The seniors and the under-17.5s side will play on Saturday and the long running Glenelg Junior Carnival is on Sunday.
The carnival is an opportunity for players to be selected in the Murray South East team that will go on to play at Port Lincoln in July and then have the opportunity to represent the state country team.
In recent seasons, Adam Merrett and Bill Laurie have gone on to play at a state level.
Adam Merrett is coach of the interleague side, with Brad Richardson and Kane Cuthbertson in assistant coaching positions.
Merrett has also been appointed as the Murray South East zone coach for 2016, leading the selected team to Port Lincoln in July.
