Maddi Ostapiw said she had been taking singing lessons herself since she was in grade three, but was now moving from student to teacher.
”There a massive demand for music lessons in Horsham,” she said.
“The singing teachers we do have in the region all have long waiting lists
“Horsham College teacher Brandi Galpin asked me if I wanted to give teaching a go, so I gave it a shot.”
Ms Ostapiw said she had started teaching a few students this year, but hoped to expand in the future.
“I found out that I love teaching young people,” she said.
”Music is a great way for children who have a lot of stress in their lives to relax and wind down.”
Ms Ostapiw said she had had experience working with the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and had been involved in lots of performances over the years.
She also sings at weddings, funerals and other events.
Ms Ostapiw said she would encourage more young people to get involved with music.
”Music is so beneficial and helps increase many other skills,” she said.
“It is scientifically shown that music skills help improve other education skills, such as English and maths.
“It’s also great to just have some fun with music.”
Ms Ostapiw said people could go to her Facebook page, Maddi Ostapiw Vocal Studio, for more information or call her on 0437 244 468.
