She competed in the 16 years and under piano solo, popular piano solo and solo by an Australian composer events at the Ballarat Royal South Street Eisteddfod this month.
“I got a choice from a few songs that my piano teacher Anne Hammerton let me choose from,” Ms Baker said.
“One piece I had known for a few years before hand but two were new to me this year.
“The first piece was ‘Song Without Words’ by Mendelssohn, the second was ‘A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes’ from Cinderella and then the third was ‘Forest Dream’ by Miriam Hyde.”
Ms Baker came fourth in her first section with an honourable mention and she won her third event.
“The maximum number of players I competed against was 15 in one section,” Ms Baker said.
“Around 2009 I started learning piano. I like how you can express how you feel when you play it.
“It’s fun to play and seeing what you can do on the piano, now that I have gotten into the more technical side of stuff and know how to play harder pieces.”
Ms Baker said she had competed in an eisteddfod every year and managed to win a medal.
