Association state chief executive Brian Kearney said representatives from about 40 hotels learnt about liquor licensing, workplace relations, social media and alcohol and gaming policy.
"We run these days throughout Victoria because it gives us the opportunity to update our members in the regions on current issues and how to deal with them," he said.
Horsham police and Melanie Harper from Ryan Commercial Lawyers provided information on liquor laws.
"The message from the police is for the continued diligence on the part of publicans in terms of responsible serving of alcohol," Mr Kearney said.
He said about 750 of the 1400 hotels in Victoria were in rural and regional areas.
"Unlike other businesses that are concentrated in metropolitan areas, the majority of pubs are in country Victoria," he said.
Victoria Hotel licensee John Brennan said the day provided an opportunity to network with other publicans.
"Nine times out of 10, publicans all have the same problems so it was good to get together and work them out," he said.
"It's nice to get to meet and see other publicans rather than speaking to them on the phone."
