The Kangas proved too strong for Mildura, bursting out of the blocks with a nine-goal first quarter before winning by 29 points.
When the siren sounded late on Saturday afternoon, the entire Mallee community shouted as one, with the Ouyen United Kangas claiming their maiden Senior SFNL flag – in their debut season.
The 29-point win over favourites Mildura capped off a brilliant year for a club born of an off-season merger between fierce rivals Ouyen United and Walpeup-Underbool.
Both clubs were part of the Mallee Football League until its demise at the end of 2015.
