Carolyn and Phillip Gemmell have brightened the Western Highway commute for many driver after turning their hard-to-miss highway property into a colourful display.
Mr Gemmell said he was still painting the back of the house but the reactions to the makeover had been fantastic.
“It’s a bit of colour – we live in a drab time so we thought why not,” he said. “We thought it’d be something to cheer up the place.”
Mr Gemmel has been painting the house, located near Golf Links Road, with some assistance.
“Everyone likes it,” he said.
“People stop and take photos a lot.
“While I was painting the front I was up and down the ladder yakking.”
Mr Gemmel and his family had lived in the home for two years.
He said when they moved in the place needed some love and care.
“It’s nice and bright, I like to drive home and see the nice colours,” he said. “You don’t ever lose your house.”
