MOST people will grab a bite to eat while they are driving, especially on long trips.
But is it okay to?
What if you are eating something that requires a bit more work, such a burger?
A VicRoads spokesman said while there is no specific rule stating that motorists are not allowed to eat while driving, the state’s road rules required a driver to have proper control of their vehicle at all times.
“Anything that interferes with a driver’s control of a vehicle could potentially be in breach of this rule,” he said.
Based on rule 257 of the Road Safety Road Rules 2009, a driver must not drive a vehicle unless they have proper control.
