KALKEE netball director Melissa Beddison said the goal for side this season will be to improve on the final ladder position in every grade in 2017.

The netball sides will be approaching the season wanting to enjoy the sport as well as improve their abilities on-court.

The A Grade side will be looking toward young Coco Ledger and Millie McRae to have big seasons in 2017 after promising campaigns in 2016.

Rebekah Harvey, former Horsham Saints netballer, will be taking the reigns as the A Grade coach this season with Montana Ledger helping as an assistant.

Beddison said it is a brand new group of netballers.

“The main priority for starters will be getting everyone on the same wavelength and gelling together nicely,” she said.

There has been upwards of 10 new players added to the Kalkee senior netballing list including Tamara and Anna Exell, Bek Harvey and Jaymi O’Connor.

The side has lost some valuable players including Tara Jasper who will be trying her game at the Wimmera League.

“She will be a big loss for us but we wish her well, Hayley Thomas and Lauren Hotker will not be playing either,” Beddison said.

“We have a fantastic group of girls this season with so many fresh faces so it will be a fun year, we are kicking off the season in our brand new dresses.”

Who are the leaders within the group?

Apart from our coach Bek Harvey there are a few girls within the group that have coaching experience, so it will be a great help to Bek leading the team, especially with the younger girls.

Do you expect many new faces in your round one lineup?

Yes, we have had around 13 new girls to the club for pre-season, we could be seeing the likes of Tamara and Anna Exell in the line up, our coach Bek Harvey, Jaymi O’Connor and possibly a couple of our younger girls.

Who do you think will be the team to beat?

I think Natimuk will be a hard one again this season, Jo Taylor being back will be a bonus for them, and also Harrow, Noradjuha-Quantong and Laharum will be tough as always.
