Currently the Tourism Kuranda general manager, Mr Sleeman will start with Grampians Tourism on July 3.
Growing up in South Gippsland, Mr Sleeman has 20 years’ experience in tourism and both in the private industry and local government sector.
He started work with Australian Pacific Tours in Melbourne in the early 1990s before relocating to north Queensland where his roles included director of sales and marketing for Raging Thunder Adventures Group and the general manager of Tourism Kuranda for the past seven years.
Mr Sleeman said he was excited about his move back to Victoria.
“My young family and I are looking forward to living and working in the Grampians,” he said.
“I look forward to working with regional business owners to increase sales and take the Grampians Region to even greater heights.
“The Grampians is such a beautiful place and provides travellers with an opportunity to experience nature in many ways and has such a diverse offering that makes for an exclusive and memorable holiday.”
Grampians Tourism chairman David Osborn said he was pleased to welcome someone with “extensive” experience in the industry who could continue the strong increase of visitors to the Grampians region, which had occurred over the last four years.
“With $30 million of investment in the Grampians Peaks Trail, iconic natural attractions, a strong wine industry, award winning restaurants and vibrant arts, sports and attractions the Grampians is well placed for the future,” he said.
Grampians Tourism also extended their thanks to outgoing chief executive Will Flamsteed for his contribution to the Grampians.
The Grampians is such a beautiful place and provides travellers with an opportunity to experience nature in many ways.
