West Wimmera Shire received $495,000 last year to build the new centre and construction started in October.
The centre will open on Saturday at the town’s football and netball clubs’ first home game of the season.
The project has cost $930,000, with community groups and residents making up the shortfall.
The hub includes a commercial kitchen, space for functions and meetings along with new umpire change rooms.
Mr Gordon said the entire community was looking forward to using the hub.
“There has been a huge amount of support in the community for this,” he said.
“It looks great.”
Mr Gordon said the main room could be divided into smaller rooms for meetings.
The football and netball clubs have only played away games so far this season, but are set for a string of matches at home for the rest of the year. “This centre can’t come soon enough,” Mr Gordon said.
“It’s been a pain playing away, but our last six games will all be at home. But nothing good comes without sacrifice.” Mr Gordon praised Kaniva contractors were their work on the hub.
Contractors contributed heavily to in-kind works across the general building, electrical, plumbing and landscaping components of the project.
“They have done a great job and came in under budget,” Mr Gordon said.
“They went above and beyond.”
Mr Gordon said there should be a big crowd at the recreation reserve on Saturday.
Fundraising committee president Kylie King said there were still more fundraisers planned for the hub.
She said people could still donate to the project.
“Anyone wishing to assist by donating can call Sharon Munn at Kaniva LINK or email me at kanivacommunityhub@gmail.com,” she said.
“All donations of $100 or more are tax deductible.”
Loose change money boxes have also been placed in Kaniva businesses.
