Holy Trinity Lutheran School has been given the green light to change its name to Holy Trinity Lutheran College.
Principal Daniel Weller said it was an exciting time for the school.
“We’ve had a lot of developments in the past few years to go from a primary school to a middle school and soon a senior school,” he said.
“With that, we’ve developed a vision of being a P-12 school and changing our name to be a college best aligns with that vision.”
Mr Weller said the school had to get approval from the Lutheran Church to change the name.
“We are a church school, we come under the Lutheran education banner so we had to ask the church community,” he said.
“We took our proposal to the church, they went away and discussed it and they voted in favour of the change.
“The church, our staff and the school community have been very supportive of this.
“We thank all the groups involved, not just for supporting the name change, but for their ongoing support of our redevelopment.”
Mr Weller said the change was in name only, with the school’s existing operations would remain the same.
“The name change will take place in the latter months of next semester,” he said.
“We’ve been given the green light, but now we need to work on our branding and marketing strategies to carry it forward.”
Mr Weller said he was looking forward to next year.
“Not only will we have a new name but next year is our 40th anniversary,” he said.
The school school offers prep to year 10, but has been growing each year.
It will take on a class of year 11 students next year, and year 12s in 2019.
The redevelopment has meant constructing new middle school and senior school buildings at the school.
The school officially opened its $8-million middle years precinct in April.
The precinct included rooms for hospitality, painting and drawing, sculpture, drama and music.
The school is now working on stage 2B of the redevelopment.
