Murtoa College principal Tony Goodwin said it was a chance for the school to show their appreciation for the hard work the mums put into the school.
“The students’ mums live a farming and family lifestyle and I thought this could be a great opportunity for them to take a break and socialise with each other,” he said.
Mr Goodwin arranged for Little Mae Travelling Coffee to serve a barista-style blend to the mums.
“All the coffee today is on me,” he said.
“Even the teachers and students are having a cup.”
Following the coffee break, the mums attended the prep to year six assembly.
“It is a great chance for them to come along and celebrate the week, and their kids achievements, while having a coffee in hand,” he said.
Mr Goodwin said he hoped to make it a regular event.
“[The mums] put a lot in for the school and by shouting them coffee it is my way of saying thank you to the community,” he said.
The owner of Little Mae Travelling Coffee, Stacey Arnold, served the quality cups of joe to the mothers in her pop-up van.
Ms Arnold served 50 cups of coffee.
The mums said they thought it was a great opportunity to relax and catch up with each other.
Mr Goodwin thanked Ms Arnold.
“[She] went out of her way to drop in for a brief time and help our community enjoy a well-earned coffee,” he said.
