Tucker played the first two games of the season but was omitted from the side in rounds three and four.
“It was a bit of a frustration but that’s part of AFL football,” Tucker said.
“I just had to make sure I went back and played my best football to press for selection.”
After spending two weeks in the WAFL, Tucker earned his spot back in the side for round five and he has missed only one side since.
He said had had a better idea of what to expect in his second season at the club.
“It’s a big change when you first move over but in you second year you’ve had a full pre-season under your belt and you are better prepared to take on the more seasoned bodies,” he said.
“Having a few games under your belt gives you more confidence.”
In order to continue his improvement Tucker has been focused on building his body up, improving his fitness base and getting in more tackling.
“Obviously there is a lot of running to do when you play on wing or off half-back,” he said.
When Fremantle had the bye in round 13 Tucker relished the opportunity to come home to Horsham.
“We had a five-day break and it was really good for me to be able to come home to see family and friends,” he said.
“Footy can be pretty stressful and I only get to see my family every so often when we travel.”
His best piece of advice for juniors would be to stick at it and work hard.
“You don’t have to be the most talented player you just have to put in as much as you can,” he said.
