The third-placed Warrack Eagles will travel to Horsham in what will be a good test for both sides.
Eagles coach Jane Richardson said she knows the Demons will certainly not want to lose twice in a row.
“We came pretty close to them earlier in the season, but even then we had a couple of poorer quarters which let us down,” she said. “Minyip-Murtoa showed Horsham could be beaten last week and we will probably take something out of that as well.”
Just six goals separated the sides in round seven in relatively low-scoring affair. If Saturday’s game is played in a similar manner the effectiveness of each side’s goal shooters will be a big factor.
Richardson said she was often impressed by the poise of Horsham’s Emma Buwalda.
“For such a young player she shows a lot of maturity,” she said.
“So we certainly need to limit her impact but in saying that we need to be able to put a big enough score on the board ourselves.
“Megan Werner has put in some really good games for us recently and we have a few different combinations we can use with her in the circle.”
Ararat v Nhill
WHILE Ararat’s hopes of playing finals in 2017 have all but faded Nhill continue to cling onto a slim chance of making the final five ahead of Saturday’s clash between the two sides.
Tigers coach Tarrah Dodds knows her side is still in the running.
“We really need to improve though in order to make it happen,” she said. “It’s about our goaling accuracy and being better at working the ball through the middle of the court and into the circle.”
When the two teams faced off in round seven the Rats came out on top as Megan Shea had a big influence on the outcome.
“Hopefully she isn’t playing this week,” Dodd said. “Emma Hawker will have a big role to play against her if she is. It will also be important for our goaling combination to be switched on.”
Dimboola v Minyip-Murtoa
THE Roos look to have secured their place in finals but will want to rise to the challenge against Minyip-Murtoa on Saturday.
Dimboola have been good enough, for long enough when they need to be but have struggled to put in four quarter efforts against the top sides.
After knocking off Horsham last round the Burras will look to back up their strong form against another top-five side as finals draw closer.
Stawell v Horsham Saints
TIME is running out for the Warriors to register a first win of the season and it will be another tough ask against an in-form Saints’ lineup. After losing the first five games of the season the Saints have lost just twice. Each week the young side, spearheaded by Maggie Caris and Tara Jasper, has improved into a more formidable team.
