Having already beaten Boort twice this season Donald coach Tom Bell is confident despite sitting below the home team on the ladder. “We need to just take the game on and really play to our strengths this week,” he said. “The midfield battle will be crucial, we need to win in there.”
Bell is confident his back six will once again stand up to give his side the best chance of winning. “There is not really any one player we need to stop so its about working as a team,” he said.
With Donald and Boort a good chance to play each other in finals the result of the match will give a confidence boost to the victorious side.
St Arnaud v Sea Lake-Nandaly
WITH two games left in the season St Arnaud coach Jason DeGraaf is continuing to urge his team on as it pursues a second win of the season.
The young side has showed patches of good form during different stages of the season but has failed to do so for full games.
“Over the past few weeks we have been giving up five goal leads by quarter time,” DeGraaf said.
“We’ve then being going on to lose by not much more than that. Our first big goal for this week is still to be in touch at quarter time and then take it from there.”
The Saints have already played Sea Lake-Nandaly twice this season. In round one the side led for half the match before being blown away in the third quarter.
“We have pushed them in both games but it’s those ten minute patches where we allow sides to score quickly against us which let us down,” DeGraaf said.
“When we put the pressure on and play with meaning we can challenge because we are able to score on the rebound, but when that pressure drops off we are in trouble.”
The Tigers boast a forward lines with plenty of options. Simon Weekly and Jordan Doering have each kicked more than 40 goals this season. “Their midfield is also pretty strong but defensively they aren’t as good as some of the other top teams,” DeGraaf said.
