Jye Smith collected three votes in Taylors Lake’s big loss against Southern Mallee Giants. It is those three votes which see him lead from Laharum’s Todd Heynen on 96 votes and Robert Miller on 94 votes. With a maximum of nine votes available each round they are the only two players who can now catch the leader.
Three District league players received maximum votes in round 15. The 17 goals kicked by Kain Robins saw him earn nine, while Kalkee’s Jasper Gunn and Natimuk United’s Jonathon Lovel were also clear standouts.
Nhill’s Billy Hayes is close to claiming the Wimmera lead award with two rounds to play. He leads Sam Clyne by 16 votes making his lead almost insurmountable.
Clyne would need to be a clear standout in the final two Horsham Saints games to be able to defend the Champion Footballer title. Hayes could secure the award by winning three votes against Dimboola on Saturday.
Luke Fisher and Jackson Taurau each received nine votes as the Saints defeated Stawell. Tyler Blake and Kieran Ellis were clear standouts as Horsham defeated Warrack. Jae McGrath performance against Dimboola also earned him nine votes.
