Free hearing checks will be available in Stawell, Rainbow, Jeparit, Kaniva, Nhill and Ararat as part of hearing awareness week.
Horsham’s Australian Hearing spokeswoman Ann Bongiorno said the theme celebrated seniors’ enjoyment of sports and activities available locally.
“Maintaining good hearing is about communication, which boosts confidence in social situations and allows people to fully participate in fitness and other activities they have always done,” she said.
“A hearing check is one part of overall health monitoring and if a hearing loss is detected, we can advise next steps.”
In Stawell the free hearing checks are offered in the Australian Hearing bus located outside Brian Hancock Amcal Pharmacy on Monday from 10am to 4pm.
On Tuesday, residents of Rainbow can receive their check from 9am until noon in the main street while Jeparit residents will also have access to the hearing checks on Tuesday from 12.45pm to 3.45pm in the main street.
The Kaniva Pharmacy will host checks from 9.15am to 12.30pm and Nhill Pharmacy from 1.15pm until 4.00pm on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the hearing checks will be available at the Ararat Safeway Car park from 9am to 3.30pm.
Ms Bongiorno said residents aged over 18 were invited to participate with no appointment necessary.
Parents concerned about their child’s hearing are advised to contact their GP.
