The Big Aussie Hearing Check is Australian Hearing’s national drive to support Hearing Awareness Week.
The organisation has set up checkpoints in the region where residents aged 18 or over can have their hearing checked, with no appointment needed.
A hearing bus will be in Main Street, Jeparit on Tuesday from 12.45pm to 3.45pm, then outside Kaniva Pharmacy on Wednesday from 9.15am to 12.30pm.
The bus will move to Nhill Pharmacy from 1.15pm to 4pm.
On Thursday, the bus will be at the Ararat Safeway carpark from 9am to 3.30pm.
Australian Hearing Horsham’s Ann Bongiorno said a quick hearing check was a wise move.
“A hearing check is one part of overall health monitoring and if a hearing loss is detected, we can advise next steps, suitable technology and provide ongoing support,” she said.
“Maintaining good hearing is about communication, which boosts confidence in social situations and allows people to fully participate in fitness and other activities they have always done – or to try something new.”
