More importantly, Stawell club will pay tribute to the enormous contributions of past life members, with the staging of four memorial races in honour of the late Terry McManus, Stan Anyon, Lorna Anyon and Reg Cooper.
McManus served the club as a voluntary starter for many years and was also awarded life membership of the Horsham Harness Racing Club. Stan and Lorna Anyon are true legends of the Stawell harness fraternity. Their passionate colleague Reg Cooper died in 2016.
“Reg began helping out around the Stawell Harness Racing Club when it was first established in 1956. He performed many volunteer roles over the years including track supervisor, supervisor of rebuilding the track, swab attendant, track attendant and also served 13 terms as president. Reg served with dedication on the Stawell committee for more than 25 years.
