Director Debbie Boutcher said the cast was asked to perform at the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria awards on December 9 after six outstanding shows.
Mrs Boutcher said the arts council had previously performed at the awards in 2012 for the production of Godspell.
“It is quite prestigious to be asked to perform at the awards. We have been nominated several times in the past, but it is an honour to be asked to perform for the second time,” she said.
She said the cast was “over the moon” that they had one more chance to perform together.
“The last night of production was quite emotional because it was the last time they would be performing together – this way they are looking forward to reuniting,” she said.
Mrs Boutcher said the first and last performances of Rent attracted an audience “well over 300 people”.
She said numbers continued to be strong throughout with more than 200 people each night.
“I believe the attendance was quite good considering it was a show that Horsham crowds were not familiar with,” she said.
Mrs Boutcher said the audience had enjoyed the “phenomenal voices” and the professionalism of the cast and production.
However, Mrs Boutcher said it took more than the actors to put on a musical. She said the crew were equally important and she could not have asked for a better one.
