She plays in the Central Wimmera Tennis Association’s pennant division.
But she has done a whole lot more than just play tennis for the Lawn club.
There’s no place that has lawns courts like we have.
- Barb Crough
“I’ve been, and still am, a player. I’ve been junior co-ordinator for three years and I was the treasurer for five years and on the committee,” Crough said.
Crough said there was something unique about Horsham Lawn that kept bringing her back to the club every year.
“I think the lawn tennis courts here are a bit special,” she said.
“There’s no place that has lawns courts like we have. They are fully looked after and maintained by the club themselves.
“It’s certainly an asset to the wider community.”
While the league may be small, Crough said she has formed some good friendships with players from the other teams.
“You play against the same people all the time, but you enjoy playing against them,” she said.
Do not let that fool you, though.
When Crough is on the court, she is fully focused on getting the victory. Her fondest memory at the club was winning a premiership.
“You always like to win, you try and talk [the opposition] out of it,” she said.
Crough also loves seeing families come together at Horsham Lawn.
“We have one mother who plays with her daughter. My son plays in the B Special and I play in the pennant,” she said.
