The decision to buy the CFA shed comes after about a year of negotiations.
In December, council made an offer to the section 86 management committee to buy the shed for $1000 plus GST.
Council made the offer on behalf of the Yanac Hall Committee, which wanted to use the shed for storage.
The shed is close to the hall.
The section 86 committee rejected the offer.
Council negotiated with the committee and revised its offer to $3000 plus GST, which the committee accepted.
Councillors voted to proceed with the purchase at a meeting on Wednesday.
The hall committee will be responsible for any maintenance needed at the shed.
Hindmarsh council granted a planning permit for the new Yanac fire station in August 2013.
