Horsham’s Morgan Lane and Paris Fiedler, Stawell’s Oscar Cole and Ararat’s Riley Perry-Parmenter will be put to the test against Victoria’s best equestrians at the Pony Club Victoria Dressage Championships.
District commissioner of the Horsham Pony Club Jo Lane said the qualifying process was very tough.
“First, they have to qualify in their zone and come in the top three to get a spot on the state team. The competition is quite strong,” she said.
Lane said it was a good sign for the sport in the region to have a Wimmera contingency competing at the higher level.
“To have our kids go down to the Yarra Valley, competing against riders from all over Victoria, is great,” she said.
“Our country kids really have to prove their worth when they get to state championships, because we don’t have access to the higher level coaches that the city kids do.”
