Assistant principal Rebecca Talbot said 10 couples participated in the inaugural event.
“It was brilliant,” she said.
“We had about 300 people attend and all the students had a fantastic night.”
Ms Talbot said the students were presented in the theatre to an official party, made up of herself, principal Matt Copping, Horsham mayor Pam Clarke and Federation University Wimmera campus head Geoff Lord.
“We then had supper and a disco in the hall,” she said.
Ms Talbot said the experience benefited the students.
“There were several students who were outside their comfort zone, but in the end they were so happy and proud to participate,” she said.
Ms Talbot said students practiced their dance steps since the start of term with debutante trainer Jan Morris.
She said the ball was definitely something the school would run again.
Cr Clarke said it was fantastic to be part of the ball.
“There were smiles all round and cheers as every couple came out,” she said.
“I’ve done many deb balls in my time, but this was the most enjoyable one I’ve ever done.”
