Crime Stoppers Victoria has released video from a burglary at a sporting club in Great Western as part of an appeal to solve the crime from August.
Heartless thieves targeted the Great Western Football Netball Club only days out from its final home and away game for the season.
Victoria Police are searching for four men in relation to the Burglary on August 10.
They were caught on camera breaking into the club, smashing the inside of the secretary’s office and ripping a safe from the wall at 1.40am.
“At approximately 1.40am the men allegedly broke into the office of a sporting club using a tool which caused damage to the door and lock,” a Crime Stoppers statement said.
“It is believed they proceeded to steal a small Chub safe from the office, which contained approximately $2400 cash, before leaving the scene in an unknown vehicle.”
The safe contained the float ahead of Saturday’s football and netball games.
Police have released security camera footage of four men who they believe might be able to assist with their inquiries.
“The men are possibly aged in their late teens or early 20s,” Crime Stoppers said.
“They were wearing hooded jumpers over their heads, runners and gloves.”
A club member exercising hours after the burglary saw the smashed door and immediately alerted Club secretary Danny Hoare.
“I was pretty devastated to see the club like that,” Mr Hoare said at the time.
“It is disappointing to see people robbing a small sport club.
“We struggle for every cent we get.”
Stawell’s two main football grounds were also targeted by burglars at about the same time.
Mr Hoare had a clear and stern message for the thieves last year.
“Return the money, we are only a small club so it really hurts us having this happen,” he said.
“A lot of people at the club are angry so I’m sure they will be caught.
“Leave us alone and go and earn your own money.”
