No fires can be lit in the open air in the region between one minute past midnight on January 18 and 11.59pm on January 19
The Country Fire Authority has advised residents that the fire danger rating for the Wimmera was severe with a hot day forecast.
People living in areas at risk of fire are advised to activate their bush fire plan.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a maximum temperature of 42 degrees on Thursday and 44 on Friday.
On Thursday there will be light winds becoming north to northwesterly 20 to 25 kilometres per hour in the middle of the day then becoming light in the evening.
On Friday there will be light winds becoming west to northwesterly 20 to 25 kilometres per hour during the day then turning southwesterly 15 to 20 kilometres per hour during the afternoon.
