The council previously had monthly meetings, but switched to two council meetings a month last year.
Cr Ismay said though there were often small agendas given the multiple meetings, the new arrangement was more logical.
“I have talked with councillors in other areas that have night meetings, and they can go quite late,” he said.
“I certainly don't want to go down that path.
“Our chief executive Greg Wood changed the meetings to what we have now. It has streamlined things a bit and I can’t see a reason why we’d want to change it.
“We used to meet once a month and have a day meeting, and basically now we do two half-days.
“We don't seem to be there super late, and I think that’s working for us.
“For me personally it works well too, as I can work in the morning and then attend the meeting.”
Hindmarsh council meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 3pm, normally in Nhill.
The council also hosts meetings in Dimboola, Rainbow and Jeparit each year.
The council used to meet in the mornings, with the meetings running for a large part of the day.
Horsham Rural City Council is the only other Wimmera council that hosts two meetings a month.
West Wimmera, Yarriambiack and Northern Grampians councils each host one.
