Emma Beer has taken over from Tarrah Dodds for her second stint as the club’s A Grade coach.
She said she was looking for her side to have an impact in finals this season.
“We definitely see that we have the ability to make an improvement and cement our position as a team not to be taken for granted,” she said.
“Every single player will need to have a big year because we won’t be taking passengers.
“I will be looking forward to watching each of them step up to take on more of a leadership role in 2018.”
She said she was excited by the fact new players at the club as well as juniors were nipping at the heals of last season’s A Grade players.
“We will look to have a very versatile line up with improved depth, which is something that we have previously struggled with,” she said.
“I am confident that my girls will perform in any role given on a Saturday.
“I am expecting to see stronger on court leadership this season, which will be a new role for some players.”
The side will still be without Ellen Bennett who continues to recover from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
“Other than that we are pretty lucky to have most of our squad on board again for the coming season.”
Q and A with Emma Beer
Who has been leading the way on the track so far?
Emma Dickinson always leads the way in relation to fitness, but all players have started with a good base level of fitness and have been working hard on the training track which is fantastic to see.
There is a really positive vibe within the senior group.
What has you most excited about this season?
The potential and possibilities it holds.
We are in a rebuilding process at Nhill and are looking to continue last season’s positive changes to elevate Nhill netball on to bigger and better things in 2018.
We have worked really hard recruiting not just players but coaches and leaders too. We have appointed the right people in these positions and I am really excited for what the season holds!
How will your style be changing this year?
We will be looking to build upon the foundations laid in the 2017 season. I will be selecting an outfit that is disciplined, composed and consistent.
I will be looking to improve our on court communication and leadership.
We improved immensely last season in terms of the quality and depth of players, the attitude of the senior squad and our style of netball.
Now in order to elevate us to have the finals success we are aiming for we need to refine our style of play and work on consistently improving the one percent aspects of the game.
Where do expect improvement to come?
I will be focusing on decreasing our errors, improving whole court defensive pressure and increasing physical and mental stamina.
