Parks Victoria is inviting providers of ‘glamping’ services to apply for the trial.
Chief operating officer Simon Talbot said glamorous camping, also know as ‘glamping’ was designed for people seeking a greater level of comfort when camping in nature.
He said examples include bell-tents, yurts, safari-tents and tee-pees that were fitted with beds, decor and furnishings for a luxurious nature-based stay.
“We know that more and more people are looking for nature-based experiences in Victoria, and this includes different types of accommodation,” he said.
“Encouraging people to visit and stay in national parks is important for creating a deeper appreciation of nature and the need to protect our wonderful places, plants and animals.
“We’re excited to offer this trial opportunity and look forward to hearing from innovative businesses who share Parks Victoria’s commitment to connecting people with parks.”
The trial will be in spring for 12 weeks and will assess the suitability and popularity of glamping.
Other trials will be in Mount Buffalo and Lake Eildon national parks.
