Warracknabeal Racing Club manager Lisa Inkster said organisation for the day was going well, and the whole town was ready to embrace the event.
“It has always historically been a great race day and we have had our cup on this Easter weekend for several years now,” she said.

“We are in the middle of the Y-Fest celebrations all over the Easter weekend, so we are an integral part of that. There is a huge street parade in the morning and everyone basically migrates to the races after. It’s just a sea of people heading out to the racecourse.”
The fields for the races have plenty of Wimmera-based interest contesting the 1600-metre Warracknabeal Cup at 4.46pm.
Horsham jockey Christine Puls will be riding Stawell trainers Terry and Karina O’Sullivan’s Patch Adams, Stawell’s Jack Hill will be on Darren Weir’s Falago, while Horsham trainer Paul Preusker will be hoping for a win with Kapaulenko.
Taking place on the Easter weekend, Ms Inkster said there would be a number of activities directed towards children at the races.
“There will be lots on for the children, they have fashions on the field if they want to do that,” she said.
“We have sports activities on and lots of ball games to keep the children entertained for a few hours. We will have indoor activities on for them as well. The key attraction for the children is that we will have a big Easter egg hunt. There is lots and lots to do for the children at Warracknabeal.”
Busses will be running from Hopetoun as well as Horsham via Murtoa and Minyip to the event. Bus times will be posted to the Warracknabeal Racing Club’s Facebook page prior to the event.
Ms Inkster said the committee had worked hard to make sure the event was well organised.
“The committee and volunteers put the day together and they are really the backbone of the event,” she said.
“It would not be possible without all of them and we are all looking forward to it.”
