Horsham-based counsellor Brendan Scale – who works for Delhuntie Youth Care – will run the Depression – Keys to Recovery Program from next week.
Mr Scale said the program would help fill a need in the community.
“The main reason we’re doing this is because people are going through some tough times, and we want to provide some clear direction for people getting through the fog of depression,” he said.
“Our purpose is to provide key principles of managing and recovering from depression.
“Essentially we're basing the program on the same principles we had with the Wilderness Adventure Survival Program we ran in the Grampians last year for young people, but this is targeting adults.”
The survival program taught young people constructive ways to cope with pain and frustration in a safe, supportive environment.
Depression – Keys to Recovery Program sessions will run from 7pm to 8pm on April 24, May 8 and May 22 at Horsham’s Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The cost is $25 and numbers are limited.
Mr Scale said people could call him on 0448 816 695 or email delhuntie01@gmail.com to book or for more information.
