Warrack Eagles coach Ryan McKenzie said his team will need to nullify Horsham’s run and carry.
“Both teams have a pretty good midfield, Horsham have a good bit of top end talent there and our midfield is handy as well,” he said.
“If we can get on top in the middle and get enough of the ball forward, I trust our forwards to kick a good enough score to win the game for us.”
McKenzie will be without Jake Cheney for the Demons clash who has hamstring issues, McKenzie said he will be back in action after the Interleague round.
“There will definitely be one change, or even two or three,” he said.
McKenzie said Brett Boyle and Liam Stewart are two possible players who could step up into the senior outfit this weekend.
McKenzie said he was happy with the way his players defended and tackled against Minyip-Murtoa.
“That’s another area we want to continue, we were good against Nhill and were exceptional against Minyip-Murtoa last week. If we can keep that pressure and intensity up it will certainly help us keep Horsham to a lower score,” he said.
“They have some good runners, if you let them get the ball in open space they are pretty hard to stop. That’s where that pressure and tackling can hopefully nullify it a little bit. Both teams seem to be playing pretty well, it’s a challenge we are looking forward to.”
Demons coach Deek Roberts said there is a positive feeling around the club at the moment.
“We’re just looking forward to another challenge, it just keeps rolling on… it’s a good even competition,” he said.
Roberts said he is keeping an eye on the midfield group for Warrack Eagles.
“They have some young kids who are quick and agile and then have Shannon (Argall) in the ruck who puts it down to them as well. They have strengths in all areas, we’re going to have to be good across all lines,” he said.
“If any team eases on the defensive pressure in the midfield and lets the opposition spread they will win the game I’m sure.”
Roberts said he has complete trust in his back line and forward line.
A young Demon back line has been performing in the early stages of the season, 123 points conceded, the second lowest in the league behind Ararat (119).
