The hikers started walking along the pinnacle track on Thursday at 2.30pm and became lost.
“They got lost on the way up there (to the Pinnacle),” Halls Gap Police Sergeant Karen Bain said.
Police and the SES went to the track about 6pm to try to locate the pair.
“They were lost and scared,” Stawell SES duty officer Jenny Rooke said.
Sergeant Bain said the hikers were located off the track and about 500 metres from Wonderland car park after seeing their phone torches.
“We had an ambulance check them out,” Sergeant Bain said.
“Physically they were fine, but were very cold.”
On Thursday it snowed at Mount William, which is a 30-minute drive from the pinnacle track car park.
Sergeant Bain said the hikers “had a hot Milo and went home”.
“It was a very good ending, for them in particular.”
