The Horsham Saints and Horsham Demons girls sides played a curtain raiser in their Deakin University Female Football League before staying on to watch the higher standard of football.
AFL Wimmera-Mallee development manager Jason Muldoon said it was great to be able to host the game in Horsham.
“We were able to host it at Coughlin Park because of the female-friendly facilities and it’s great to have them here for our own girls program,” he said.
“It took a bit of lobbying to get the game in Horsham but it’s fantastic to be able to have a game of this standard here. We would love to host a Vic Country game here as well in the future.”
Vic Metro was too strong and too tall for South Australia in the end.
Metro ran away with a 5.6 (36) to 2.1 (13) victory thanks to a strong final quarter.
