HORSHAM Arts Council have decided to switch its musical that will be performed in October this year.
It was originally announced that Urinetown would be the October production. However, it was switched out to make room for Little Shop of Horrors.
Director Debbie Boutcher said there was a considerable drought of men for Urinetown and the production could not move forward without filling the male roles.
“We did have some males booked and that’s why we didn’t cancel the auditions. But, the auditions came around and they pulled out for a number of reasons,” she said.
“We can’t put on a show without the men we needed for that production.”
Ms Boutcher said most people would have heard about Little Shop of Horrors.
“A lot of people would know it – it’s about a large plant from outer space that feeds on humans, but has a bigger ambition to take over the world,” she said.
While there was a lack of men auditioning, she said the quality of auditionees to a high standard.
