A man has died after hitting a tree on Pomonal Road in Stawell on Sunday night.

Police said the 52-year-old’s blue ute rolled over, landing on its roof, and hit a tree just before 7.30pm.
The man, who was the single occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.
Emergency services were called to the scene by a passerby about 7.30pm.
Stawell State Emergency Service unit controller Alan Blight said the man was already dead by the time SES got to the scene. The scene was cleared by 11pm.
Victoria Police are yet to confirm the man’s identity.
Police said the exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
This brings the road toll in Victoria for this year to 94.
Mr Blight said Pomonal Road had become a notorious stretch for vehicles over the years for varying reasons.
“A lot of the time it is because of fatigue, inattention and wildlife,” he said.
“We urge motorists to be careful on roads.”
Victoria Police were running Operation Regal over the long weekend. Police were targeting key road risks including speed, fatigue, distraction, drink and drug driving.
In the past five years there have been 14 lives lost, 261 serious injuries and 598 other injuries during the Queen’s Birthday weekend.
