That’s the word from Harvest Christian Church in Horsham, which will host one of its biggest youth events of the year – called TGIF.
Melbourne hip-hop duo Vee and Josh will be performing at TGIF.
There will be a free sausage sizzle, games and prizes.
The church’s youth Pastor Greg McKinnon said Dave Doolan, the youth Pastor of the ‘Collective society’ in Bendigo, would be the guest speaker.
“He is also a youth worker who has had 10 years’ experience in working with young people with different socioeconomic statuses,” he said.
“He will be speaking on different challenges young people face and how they can have resilience to get through them.”
Pastor McKinnon said people who aren’t involved with the Harvest church are invited to come along.
“Young people face a lot of different issues in this day in age. We are trying to help them and give them some practical tools – physical and mental – to be able to help get through the different obstacles they face in everyday life,” he said.
Pastor McKinnon said the church wants to create an environment which is comfortable and welcoming for young people.
“Young people are facing some full on stuff and we just want to help,” he said.
“There’s so much negativity surrounding young people so we want to combat that with as much positivity as possible.
“Even though it is held here at the church, people don’t need to believe what we believe at the church to feel like they can come along to things like this.”
Pastor McKinnon said Vee and Josh will also be performing at the Horsham College and Holy Trinity Lutheran College during the day on Friday.
Games such as three versus three basketball competitions, PlayStation, four square, Xbox and table tennis will be played at the event.
