Students have been working on songs and dances for the production since February.
Ruby Risson, who plays Pinky, said because the musical wasn’t well known to her generation, many people had to learn the songs from scratch.
Lily Risson, who plays Marion, said it was difficult in the beginning – but everyone has learnt their roles.
“We have just learnt the finale, now we just need to put it all together,” she said.
Lily said she had made lifelong friends while learning the production.
“You learn to have a lot of patience with yourself and other people and everyone helped everyone out,” she said.
The cast for the production has had a major shift in personnel, with a core group of 10 performers supported by 24 new performers who hadn’t taken part in a school musical before.
Teacher Emily Friedrichsen said there haven’t just been new junior students, but senior students as well.
“Wylie Loelu is new to the school. Sarah Hughes, who is in year 12, joined over the last four weeks because she saw Joseph and thought she was missing out,” she said.
Oscar O’Brien, who plays Fonzi, said the production has a very fun and upbeat feel to it.
Three shows run from August 16 to August 18, starting at 7.30pm.
