Yarriambiack Shire Council received $140,000 from the state government to upgrade its site.
Acting infrastructure and planning director Bernie Naylor said the funding would allow council to close a existing landfill site and improve the current transfer station.
He said council hoped to start construction for the half-waste and recycling facilities in the 2018-19 financial period.
The funding came from the state government’s Resource Recovery Infrastructure Fund.
Yarriambiack Shire Council’s project was one of the 13 recycling projects to benefit from the grant.
