On Thursday, the couple will celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary – a milestone most could only dream of reaching.
Mrs Pilmore remembers when the two first met.
“We both grew up on a farm and met at a dance at Dimboola,” she said.
Mr Pilmore said he had fond memories of the wedding.
“We were married at a church at Antwerp,” he said.
“Elva was running a little bit late so I was thinking she might not rock up.”
The couple have two children – Lynette and Geffrey – who both live at Stawell.
Mrs Pilmore said after 71 years the couple still valued the time they spent together.
“We still get along very well, we have been very lucky having good health all the time and have aged well together,” she said.
Mrs Pilmore said her and her husband have a shared love for country music.
“For 30 years we went to Mildura for a country music festival up there and we never missed one,” she said.
“We used to do all of the gardening and growing vegetables together too.”
