The Panthers got off to a quick start and ended up winning the contest 31.22 (208) to 8.4 (52).
Panther Trent Grant kicked a massive 13 goals for the winning outfit.
Lakers coach Jye Smith said he was disappointed his team couldn’t match the Panthers.
“After the first quarter we really dropped off,” he said.
“Leading into the game I thought we would have been able to match them for a good half at least.”
The Lakers have had a bad year with injuries and Smith said the list continues to grow.
“I say it every week but the injuries keep rolling on,” he said.
“It just wasn’t our day today, they got a quick run and we couldn’t match it. They are a pretty handy side but too many of our players didn’t have a good day today.”
Smith said it is deflating for players when the team goes behind by 10 goals, by the half time siren the Lakers were 10 goals behind the Panthers.
Smith said after the game, the Lakers came together and understood what they need to improve.
“Players are starting to realise what they need to do. It’s not just as a team but it’s individuals as well,” he said.
“We took a lot out of it. It’s about managing our side and making sure we get the best team on the park.”
