Briggs went around the green course, which is the shortest configuration for the men, in 63 shots on Wednesday to beat his previous record of 66 which he had set in October.
The 21-year-old said after making a good start the record started to enter his mind following the ninth hole.
“I was four-under through nine and I knew I would have a good chance to pick up a couple more shots on the back nine’s par fives,” he said.
A bogey on the par three 11th was only a minor setback as Briggs remained confident through the final seven holes.
“I’m a player that plays on confidence,” he said. “I generally don’t get negative at all, I play positively because you have to be like that. I put so many hours into my game practicing that whenever it is time to play I’m prepared.”
Briggs, who works the club’s pro shop, has upped the time he has put into the game in recent months.

He spent a number of months training at Torquay earlier this year and played as RACV Torquay’s number one player in the pennant competition.
“I was undefeated through eight matches down there,” he said. “They take it a bit more seriously there and I actually managed to win their player of the year award.
“Once I’d done a lot of travel and I knew I was coming back to Horsham with a lot more experience.”
Briggs said he lived and breathed golf given his job at the club and enjoyed being able to practice multiple times a day. His handicap currently sits at +2 and he is excited by his future prospects.
“One of the options is to head back down to Torquay but also the opportunity to turn professional come January or February is also in the back of my mind,” he said. “We’ll just see what happens.”
