Morgan went up an age division after winning the 12 years and under category for 2016 but it did not hold her back as she took out the 13-18 year-old category for 2017.
The title takes into account all of the competitions the nominated rider takes part in over the course of the year with points awarded if the rider finished first, second or third.
Morgan’s mother Jo said it took months for all the entries to be collated with Morgan only receiving her title in recent weeks.
“There are kids from everywhere and lot of data to go through so we don’t find out until halfway through the year,” she said.
“It’s quite an honour for her – I don’t know how to explain it,” Jo said. “You put your entries in and just hope for the best because you don’t know who else is out there and what their achievements are.”
Jo said Morgan competed on almost a weekly basis through the year.
“I’d certainly say she competes on most weekends,” she said. “If I look at the calendar for this month then we aren’t home at all – that gives a pretty fair indication of what we do.”
Jo and Morgan’s father Justin continue to be excited by what their daughter has managed to achieve so far.
“She’s very commuted to what she does,” she said. “Most nights she is out there working with her horse whether its jumping or dressage.”
The academy provides the aspiring sports stars with an opportunity to remotely work within an elite sporting environment by sticking to specialised training programs.
“She has hopes and dreams of going to Melbourne three-day events, which are international events,” Jo said.
“She wants to achieve and if she keeps going the way she has then she gives herself every chance – that makes us very proud because she is committed while remaining humble.”
