More than 30 children ranging in age participated in a school holiday basketball clinic at the Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre on Monday.
Horsham Hornets players Tim Pickert, Matt Lovel and Mitch Martin led the clinic, bringing fresh faces to the clinic which runs regularly over school holidays.
The trio ran through basic basketball skills including dribbling, passing and shooting.
“The session ran for a bit over and hour and it was really well received,” SSAC leisure assistant Brody Stewart said.
“It was great to have some different faces take the clinic this time. It runs a similar way but by having different people they bring different ideas and teach the kids different things.”
With no Country Basketball League team in Stawell at the current time, Lovel said it is important for players like himself to give back to the game.
“It is definitely important to make sure there is still interest in basketball no matter what town it is in. We are always happy to help wherever we can,” he said.
“All the kids seemed quite keen which is a good sign.”
