HORSHAM College students are ready to bring the production of Happy Days to the Horsham Town Hall stage.
Ruby Risson is taking on the role of Pinky in the Happy Days production. She said she was excited to bring the fun experience to the stage.
“The whole experience has been very fun. The dances are so different and they are really energetic,” she said. “It was hard at the start learning the dances, but when we get it right everyone feels on top of the world.”
This is Ruby’s fourth Horsham College production. Ruby said she has normally taken on younger roles in other productions, but she was happy to take on a maturer role this time around.
Ruby said the highlight of this year’s production was the chance to perform with her sister Lily Risson for the last time.
“This is my sister’s last year and I am so excited that we get to perform together,” she said. “I would say my favourite scene is where I get to sing, What I Dreamed Last Night, with her.”
Ruby said the audience should come with an open mind because Happy Days was a fun production that showcased a lot of talent.
“Every year there are new people and it’s fun to see everyone come together, who might not have been friends otherwise,” she said. “At first we have different opinions about everyone, but our thoughts go out the window when everyone becomes their true self.”
Lily Risson, who is taking on the role of Marion Cunningham, will be taking to the stage for the last time. She has performed in six productions at Horsham College.
Lily said Happy Days was the first production where she has taken on a leading role.
“Performing has taught me so much about myself and what I am able to do. It has really given me so much confidence,” she said.
Lily said the audience would enjoy the dances and songs the most.
“Each dance and song are full of life,” she said. “This production is so fun, bright and colourful. Everyone needs to come along to the fifties.”
Happy Days is showing at the Horsham Town Hall from Thursday to Saturday from 7.30pm each night. Tickets are available for $25.
