Jess moved to Horsham for work at the start of 2018 after two years travelling abroad an two years living in Melbourne.
“I played in Melbourne and for a few country clubs like Navarre and Redan,” she said.
“When I came back from travelling I didn’t want to move back to Darwin because all my family is down here.
“I didn’t really want to live in Melbourne so I welcomed the change back to the country, and I really like it. I probably like it more than I thought I was going to.”
Jess said the community feeling at country clubs was different to her time in Darwin.
“I love that, volunteering and helping out where I can. Whether it’s coaching, umpiring or organising events. I really like doing that myself,” she said.
Jess could play multiple positions on the court, but said she played a majority of the 2018 season in goal attack.
“Wing attack is probably my favourite position to play, but I leave the centre court positions to the little girls,” she said.
Jess said she was impressed with the professionalism of the Wimmera Netball Association and Horsham Demons and how they were ran.
Her last name may look familiar to some, Jess said her father Jim played for the Richmond Football Club.
