Local Government Minister Marlene Kairouz announced on Tuesday morning that West Wimmera Shire Council’s grant application under the Living Library’s Infrastructure Program had been successful.
The redevelopment involves removing the current hall and building a space with library collection, space for reading, meetings, workshops, school holiday activities as well as a function area.
Wimmera Regional Library Corporation chief executive Ann Twyford said the new development would be an asset to the community.
“The new community hub will give the community a fantastic place where people will be able to meet, learn and do business,” she said.
West Wimmera Shire Mayor Jodie Pretlove said the development has been a priority for council for some time.
“The redevelopment of the Edenhope Hall including the relocation of the library has been a project on council's agenda for many years and this support allows us to move forward with the project to provide an inviting community space for all,” she said.
