After initial safety concerns at the venue, the Wesley Performing Arts Centre committee gave the Horsham Rural City Council permission to undertake a fire safety assessment in November 2017.
The assessment, completed by a council building surveyor, uncovered issues with the fire safety of the building.
The centre has remained closed for the past ten months.
The council are seeking input from the community about the future direction of the Wesley Performing Arts Centre.
Horsham Rural City Council community wellbeing director Kevin O’Brien said the council hoped an online questionnaire would uncover the performing arts demand in Horsham and surrounding towns.
Mr O’Brien said people with an interest in performing arts and the centre were encouraged to have their say. He said the results would help inform the future direction of the Wesley Performing Arts Centre.
“The council would like to hear the views of the community and key stakeholders to assist in the future planning of performing arts in the region,” he said.
“The survey will only take about 10 minutes and there is an opportunity to provide additional information and feedback.”
Mr O’Brien said the Wesley Performing Arts Centre committee was considering the overall condition of the building and the use of the facility into the future.
“To support this, the council has engaged a specialist consultant to undertake a strategic needs assessment,” he said.
“This will provide the council with a performing arts service demand analysis that will be used to inform any future strategic decisions for Wesley, which includes developing potential models for service delivery taking into account all life cycle costs.”
He said the survey was available on the council’s website until September 30.
